Cayuga off to hospital?????

I'm channeling Ber's excellent observations today, since it was rainy and dreary and I slept in, dealt with the man coming to repair the ceiling damage from the burst pipe of some weeks ago, waited for a friend to call about her dead car and need for a jumpstart. Ber ran into Ed and Anne who were with a reporter from the Brooklyn paper. They were waiting from a call from an animal rescue place about Cayuga. Later on, Cayuga, Ed and Anne were not to be seen. Hopefully he (Cayuga, not Ed)has been taken to an animal rescue place and treated. Hopefully, this is not the same animal rescue place that John-Boy, the swan went to a couple of months ago. They never got a vet, let the swan die, cremated him, then called it "swan-on-swan violence"' Will this be called "duck-on-duck violence?" And who is issuing BB guns to the ducks in their little war? Stay tuned.

Mama swan still setting, but Papa is on the other side of the lake. Does this mean anything other than a need to move about occasionally? Still no cygnets.

The steps to Lookout Hill were incredibly clean - major storm, wind and rain, last night cleaned away all the debris. No cans, bottles or crack bags, just some sweet puddles for JJ to romp in. Hope it stays that way. A couple of trees are down.

Two news items of interest. First, Greg Mocker of WPIX, Channel 11, did another feature. This time about the tire in the lake. He fished it out, took it to Park Headquarters in Central Park...Well, take a look. Here's the link to the video:

Can we get him to come and take out the trash can that's been in for over a year? All the orange cones that end up in the lake? The floating plywood dock? The ice ladders? Hundred of bottles, cans, metal fence poles, plastic bags, etc. etc. etc.?

Second: here's a cute game to play:

Spread the word: the more publicity about the sad state of affairs in Prospect Park, the more likely there will be some improvements.

Here's a real surprise: the fence around the BBQ cage is being taken down. We think. Only time will tell. Will they start to remove all the other fences in the park after that? I doubt it. Sorry to sound so cynical. PARKS DEPARTMENT: PLEASE PROVE ME WRONG!!! Love, Park watcher
