No preventive measures

Well, remember the dangerous tree I reported on April 18? The one with the shallow roots and the angle overhanging the new children's playground? It is no longer a danger, because it came down last night (a windy night). it crashed down on the playground fence as anticipated. Luckily, the playground is not yet open to people, and it was at night, and no one was hurt. According to the people cutting up some of the downed trees, they do not do any prevention at all. They just clear up later. One wonders why. Budget considerations? Fear of lawsuits? "Not my department" thinking? Requires thought as to what might be dangerous?

Mama swan is still setting, and papa is back being very defensive. He took a break yesterday and we didn't see him. Today he spotted JJ and came right over to warn her off. And speaking of mamas, we had a wonderful Mother's Day breakfast at Cinqu de Mayo, our local, fabulous Mexican restaurant. Huevos rancheros, plaintains, a Mango milkshake, and my wonderful family. Hope mama swan has hers soon.

We also saw Cayuga today. Yesterday, we saw his entourage with Big Mallard yesterday, and no sign of him. Today he was back with the caramel ducks. Odd how we assume that Big Mallard and Cayuga are both male and the caramel ducks are all female. We have no idea what sex any duck is. Yet we make what are undoubtedly sexist assumptions. And I consider myself a raging feminist!!!!!
