Pictures of Lucky Goose!!

Today in the park we saw the goose! You know, the one with the arrow in its neck, no longer. Anne and Ed have appropriately named him Lucky because 1) the lucky shot that got the arrow into its neck and 2) luckily didn't kill him, plus 3) he luckily managed to get it out. Don't know why I'm suddenly saying he - we still have no idea of the sex and probably never will. Here are several pictures of him, of Anne feeding him, of the one side of the neck with the area that looks as if it had been shaved, and of the other side. if you look carefully and enlarge the photo, you can see a small round hole.

To us, the goose is lucky, but she/he is also known by the name Target, for obvious reasons. So, it's Target, the very, very lucky goose.

  1. It is great relief to realize the goose was able to get the arrow out of his neck. Thanks for posting the update and pictures. Now, that only a flock of geese could get the creep that shot this poor fellow (or girl) and hold him under the water until he chokes. Unbeliveable to think of someone walking around a city park with bow and arrow! What sickies in the world.

  2. I am very happy that the goose is ok. On a somewhat related note, here is a video i took of kids attacking the cygnets by the boathouse. You have inspired me to be more vigilant.

They actually threw quite a bit of trash in the lake directly at the swans. I was disgusted and took this. i yelled at them after i took the video, i wanted to catch it on video first.

  3. To sssnole: Good video! This kind of vigilance is exactly what is needed - to create an atmosphere in which we care for the water fowl, not attack them. I don't think rules work, but creating a positive tone does.
